The beginning of Zisurru: in finding recordings of my dead mother and musing about spells.
“Invocation 1” was built around the voice of my mother as she left messages unsure if it was voicemail or if I had picked up the phone. The sound of her asking if I was there as she had recently died began this whole process. “The Subtle Art of the Schizophrenic Mind” uses sounds generated by small sound bytes of an interview with a schizophrenic. “Bless” is built around recordings of a seance and a prayer. “Pentagram Time“, though seemingly esoteric by title was an exploration begun exploring repeating patterns by five. “Heartbeats” began with just that; a recording of my heartbeat is lost among the layers. “Astral Projection” is merely a sonic exploration of out-of-body experiences. “Identity Error” finishes this collection out with a granular glitching experience of frozen slices of hospital ambience in the style of Skinny Puppy and Download.
